BISHOPTHORPE White Rose's new under-19s team continued to learn about the York FA U19s Football League with a 4-1 defeat at Poppleton.

It is the first time the White Rose club have run a team in this age group in an attempt to bridge the gap between a thriving junior section and the senior teams. They currently lie ninth of 13, holding their own against other new teams while working hard to compete with the established clubs.

Ben Singleton hit a hat-trick for Poppleton, with Tom McCrory also on target. Adam Henry got Bishop's reply.

Leaders Dringhouses continued their 100 per cent record with a crucial 4-2 win over fellow high-fliers York Cubs 4-2, thanks to goals by Matty Mulhearn, Cam Loftus, Tom Rushworth and Jack Stockell. Dan Zimer and Charlie Powell replied.

Lowly York RI enjoyed a surprise 6-0 win at Tadcaster with strikes by Callum Atkins (2), Dan Galtrey, Sam Woodhouse, Clayton Stephenson and Sam Dawson.

Second-placed Rawcliffe thrashed Stamford Bridge 10-0 with George Brown on target six times. Will Hartley (2), Ellis Stephenson and Niall Smallwood also netted.

Wigginton edged Wilberfoss 4-3 thanks to a Harry Clapham hat-trick, Aaron Richards Moss also on target. Dan Gibney (2) and Sam McAllister were the Foss marksmen.
