RUFFORTH United continue to set the pace in the York Minster Engineering League’s third division after their 7-2 home win over Howden.

Dan Cates led the scoring with four goals and Rufforth’s tally was completed by Chris Scott, Leigh Dutton and Adam Brooke.

Heworth Green overcame Selby Olympia 7-2 thanks to John Moore (3), Dan Marshall (2), Callum Mackenzie and Conor Savage.

Patryk Zimer converted two penalties for Moor Lane at home to Huby United, but the visitors secured the points courtesy of George Jackson (2), Ben Hodgson and Sean Corr efforts.

The Raj edged an end-to-end game with Jorvik Blades following Ben Neal’s double strike. Joe Cox bagged a consolation for Blades and, before the match, both sides and the match officials clapped The Raj’s associate Sidar Cetin on to the pitch to show respect to the courage he is displaying during his ongoing battle with leukaemia.

Division four leaders Malt Shovel had the day off and Bubwith White Swan capitalised by going level on points.

Bubwith had player-manager Rob Joy to thank for their win after his long-range acrobatic effort proved the difference against St Clement’s. Earlier Matthew Horner had scored for the Saints with Ryan Sedman levelling.

Wetherby Athletic sit fourth after a 5-0 home triumph against AFC Crayke., while Stuart Harrison, Matthew King and Alfie Wright found the net for Pollington in their 3-3 draw with Huntington FC.

Kyle McDonald bagged a hat-trick for Bramham in their 6-1 home success over Wheldrake. Joe Collins (2) and Alex Gregory were also on target for the hosts.

Swinton defeated LNER Builders with the only goal of their game.
