WITH the top three at the start of play on Saturday out of league action, the chasing pack in the York Minster Engineering League Premier Division made the most of their opportunity to close in, with Malton & Norton, Dringhouses and F1 Racing all recording successes.

Malton & Norton narrowed the gap on third-placed Sporting Knavesmire to just one point thanks to a 3-0 home win over Tadcaster Magnets, with Liam Preston, Jake Taylor and Simon Reeves inflicting the damage.

Meanwhile, Dringhouses climbed to fifth, Dave Watson and Sam Drake netting in a 2-0 triumph at basement club Brooklyn.

F1 led 2 0 at home to York RI, thanks to goals from Paul Bentley and Chris Smith.

RI started the second half brightly, but it was F1 who went further ahead with goals from Chris Dempsey and a second for Bentley.

York RI pulled one back with a stunning strike from Josh Coulson, but F1 finished stronger, and 16-year-old Milan Manandhar wrapped up the scoring with his first goal for the club.

A new-look Riccall United pulled seven points clear of Brooklyn at the foot of the table following a 6-2 defeat of Copmanthorpe.

Debutants Connor Todd (3), Elliot Precious (2) and Aaron Raymond all bagged goals for the home side, with Cop's replies coming from Mark Feathers and Matt Pallister.
