YORK Under-15s Schoolboys' unbeaten start to the season ended as league leaders Rotherham edged a 3-2 win with a goal five minutes from time.

Rotherham took the lead within two minutes and, as York struggled to get to grips with the pace of the game, another goal soon followed, York falling two behind for the first time this term.

However, as the half progressed, the Minster city boys started to gain a foothold, with central midfielders Danny Allinson and Lucas Wilson becoming more influential assisted by wingers Robbie Simpson and Ben Barker Spencer.

On the half-hour York unexpectedly pulled a goal back when Wilson beat two men and hit a dipping 25-yarder past the keeper.

Within three minutes they were level.

Wilson's shot was well saved but Joe Crosby pounced on the rebound, beat the defender and fired home.

Further half-chances were created by Manni De Nobriga but York were unable to take the lead, before Rotherham rallied, resolute defending from Oscar Butters, Max Warren, Lucas Frankish and Tom Fleet keeping it 2-2.

York enjoyed the majority of the early possession after the break but did not create clear-cut opportunities and Rotherham soon began to make chances at the other end.

Oscar Stott in the heart of York's defence and keeper Patrick Randall did their bit to keep the scores level, but the pressure paid off as the winner came from a long ball over the top.

York sniffed an equaliser from a late free kick but Danny Allinson's cross was well cleared.

YORK U14s Schoolboys threw away a 2-0 lead as Calderdale scored three times in the last ten minutes - the winner coming in stoppage time.

Calderdale played fine passing football at the start but York had the first attempt on target, Luke Jones' header from Ed Hammond's cross lacking power and being collected by the keeper. Seconds later, York had Leo Jones to thank for the first of many block tackles to snuff out a Calderdale attack.

Jones was part of a back four kept busy by Calderdale's spells of possession but, with York content to soak up pressure, neither side created much.

However, as the half drew to a close, York took the ascendancy, forcing a number of saves and then breaking the deadlock

as a fierce shot from Luke Jones was parried, with Edward Hammond the first to react.

York had their best spell of the game on the resumption, Hammond and Luke Jones having early shots off target, while, after a nasty challenge on the edge of the box on Harvey Stephenson, the free kick was pushed round the post by the keeper.

York sought another goal, Charlie Fort being denied by the keeper after skipping past challenges, and Calderdale's resistance was broken when Luke Jones - York's joint man of the match with Sid McCoy- drove to the byline and whipped the ball across goal, a defender knocking it into his own net as Hammond bore down.

York continued to press, but Calderdale began the comeback with a goal on the break.

Buoyed by this, they pushed for an equaliser and got it when, from a high floated cross, a defensive header looped over the stranded keeper and in.

The in stoppage time a sweet shot went in off the underside of the bar to win it.

YORK U13s Schoolboys' undefeated start to term ended with a 2-0 reverse to a Nottingham side who had also beaten them in last season's Martin Dale Trophy final.

The two sides cancelled each other out for much of the first half, York's only attempt on target seeing Eliott Heath's 25-yarder tipped over by a keeper at full stretch.

York lost right-back Joe Roughley to a dead leg ten minutes before the break but the second half continued in the same vain with defences on top. Lewis Humphreys also departed with a knee injury.

Heading into the final third, the hosts still sought to create, with Heath causing problems. However, the tide slowly turned to the away side and the deadlock was finally broken.

The Minster city boys pushed for an equaliser and, with tackles flying in all over, the game got increasingly feisty, referee Harry Sturdy doing well to keep a lid on things.

Nottingham then sealed victory with seconds left courtesy of a deflection, Harry Tinker needing treatment after being injured in his attempted block tackle.

YORK Schoolboys U12s extended their unbeaten league run to four games as an exceptional all-round performance brought a 4-0 win over Nottingham.

York took control from the off and got reward when the keeper could only palm Dillon Meehan's fierce long-range strike into the path of Tommy Cahill, who made no mistake.

Nottingham went close on a couple of occasions but Noah Ellis made some fine saves and commanded his area well, while York's defence restricted opportunities.

Then late in the first half, man-of-the-match Meehan again found room to try his luck from 20 yards and this time the ball flew in.

Nottingham were not out of it and the next goal was likely to be important. The introduction of Cole Gayles and Oliver Darley brought creativeness down York's left and the former duly extended the lead.

After a skilful run, he cut inside and, while his first attempt was saved, he finished well from the rebound.

Nottingham fought back late on but Will Hotson's tremendous shift helped keep York’s second consecutive clean sheet. The game was then put to bed when the ball was fed to Cahill and he put it in the top corner.

YORK U11s Schoolboys extended their unbeaten run with a workmanlike 6-2 victory over Nottingham.

York dominated from the off but squandered half-chances before opening the scoring on 12 minutes, Liam Mainprize tapping in at the far post after getting the benefit of a tight offside call.

Nottingham equalised on the break just before half-time but on the resumption York began to convert chances, Fraser Clarke and Mainprize on target, before Bobby Boyson put home a Jack Whalen cross.

Nottingham gave themselves a lifeline with a fine team goal but York did not panic and sealed matters through Ben Myers and, with the goal of the game, man-of-the-match Ryan Evans.
