LEADERS Malt Shovel increased the gap to the chasing pack in the Fastpack York Sunday Morning League first division when thrashing Cliffe 12-3.

With the other games postponed, Shovel, with a 100 per cent record after seven matches, upped their lead to eight points, though second-placed Wigginton Grasshoppers have two games in hand.

Malt dominated the first half and led 7-0 at the interval. The second half was a little more competitive with Cliffe bagging two replies through Glynn Richardson and an own goal.

Beeswing rose to second in division two after a convincing 5-1 win over Knapton Lions.

Beeswing took the lead with a good finish and, although Knapton equalised from a corner through Daniel Murray, the hosts scored twice more for a 3-1 lead at the break.

Beeswing were the better team in the second half but only managed to two more goals. Roy Page led their scoring with four in all, while Carl Falcone notched a solo effort.

Hambleton trailed York Medics 1-0 at half-time but turned things around to win 3-2. The Medics' scorers were Alex Renwick and Greg Chambers.

Rawcliffe Crusaders were another team in the goals as they sent Wentworth packing - they led 5-1 at half-time with the game finishing 8-3.

Sam Lappish led the way with a hat-trick, while their other marksman was Adam Curley, Luke Fordsham, Reece Chapman, Adam Cooper and Aaron Newman. For Wentworth, Peter Baird hit a double and Dan Mullen netted their other goal.
