PICKERING Town continued normal service in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Following their 5-0 FA Vase reverse at home to Shildon last weekend, the Pikes followed up their midweek 2-0 home victory against chief rivals Cleethorpes Town with a 4-1 triumph at Athersley Recreation.

Billy Logan put the visitors ahead in the 36th minute and Nathan Kamara made it 2-0 in the 55th minute.

Lee Garside's goal in the 65th minute robbed Town of a clean sheet but Rec were finished off by a Ryan Blott brace in the 73rd and 78th minutes to preserve their unbeaten away league record.

The fourth-placed Pikes, who are still short of full strength, have games in hand on all those clubs above them – six on leaders Thackley, who they trail by 11 points; two on second-placed Cleethorpes Town, who they are eight points behind; and five on Liversedge, who are only above them on goal difference.

Bridlington Town, who, like Liversedge, the Pikes and Albion Sports are on 34 points, will host Pickering Town in a League Cup tie on Tuesday, January 24.

Goals from Joshua Nichol and Paul Grimes gave Bottesford Town a 2-0 victory at lowly Harrogate Railway Athletic, while, in Division One, Selby Town fell 2-1 at Teversal.

Scott Jones put the visitors ahead from the spot in the 20th minute, only for Daniel Fletcher to equalise from a penalty 19 minutes later before Khyle Sargent bagged Teversal's winner in the 79th minute.

In the Vanarama National League, centre back Simon Ainge gave Harrogate Town the lead at Brackley Town on the stroke of half-time.

However, David Moyo equalised in the 50th minute and Matty Lowe grabbed the winner for Brackley a minute before time.
