TADCASTER Albion will host Farsley Celtic in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup after knocking out Pontefract Collieries.

The two clubs played out a goalless draw in the Evo-Stick League First Division North only eight days ago and will renew acquaintances again on September 17 at the i2i Stadium.

Goals from Conor Sellars (2) and Charlie Binns helped Taddy to a 3-2 victory over Pontefract at the weekend.

Manager Billy Miller made four changes to the side that drew with Farsley last week and recalled Adam Baker, Liam Shepherd, Lewis Morgan and Fatlum Ibrahimi.

Conditions were absolutely horrendous in Pontefract and it was the home side who had the first effort on target when Mark Whitehouse’s free-kick tested Michael Ingham’s handling on a wet afternoon.

Pontefract, who are two divisions below Tadcaster in the league pyramid, had an early Jordan Turner 'goal' ruled out for offside.

However, Taddy soon got into their stride and took the lead thanks to a Sellars header on 23 minutes.

The goal gave the Brewers a confidence boost and Sellars doubled their lead with a thumping shot just eight minutes later.

But Pontefract pulled a goal back four minutes for the break when Turner blocked an attempted clearance from Gregg Anderson and steered the ball past goalkeeper Michael Ingham.

Pontefract, who have won their first five fixtures in the Northern Counties East league division one, pushed hard for an equaliser and it needed a good save from Ingham to deny Turner before Andy Milne cleared the ball off the line.

But the Brewers restored a two goal cushion on 53 minutes when Binns curled in his first goal for the club before celebrating with some fancy samba dance moves.

Miller introduced brothers Jonathan and Josh Greening from the bench and the latter almost made it 4-1 when his curling shot was kept out by goalkeeper Ben Saynor.

Substitute Kieran Hirst set up a tense final period when scoring Pontefract's second goal of the game with 12 minutes to go.

The home side threw everything at Taddy in the final stages in search of an equaliser but substitute Jack Mawson wasted the best chance when heading unmarked straight at Ingham.

Goals from Ryan Blott, Ged Dalton, and Ryan Cooper gave Pickering Town a comfortable 3-0 win at Garforth Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier division.

Selby Town, meanwhile, lost 2-1 at home to Worsborough Bridge Athletic in NCEL division one. Goals from Lee Garside and Connor Rollinson put the visitors in control before Christoper Jackson replied in the 80th minute.

Harrogate Town, meanwhile, have been drawn away at Bridlington Town in the FA Cup.
