TADCASTER Albion joined the list of sides who have been unable to find a way past Farsley Celtic’s defence this season.

Yet to concede a goal in four games, Farsley remained top of the Evo-Stock League First Division North after Monday’s goalless draw.

Taddy made three changes to the side which had beaten Mossley 1-0 on Saturday with Conor Sellars and Rob Youhill recalled and Charlie Binns handed a first start in midfield.

The best chance of the afternoon arrived after just eleven minutes and it fell to the Brewers.

Sellars placed a perfect diagonal ball over the top of the fullback to the advancing Steve Jeff who closed in on goal but lashed agonisingly wide of the near post.

Taddy created another opportunity soon after when Sellars’ deep cross was headed out to the edge of the box where Binns hit a first-time volley that dipped just an inch over the bar.

League leaders Farsley had a number of efforts blocked by the Brewers’ back line in the opening stages.

James Walshaw had the first real sighting of goal for the visitors when he peeled off his man but headed into the ground making it a simple pick-up for goalkeeper Michael Ingham.

The former Harrogate Town frontman did find the net moments later, however, but was ruled offside by the linesman.

McKibbin, in the Celts’ goal, was tested right on the half-time whistle when Sellars clipped a free-kick up and over the wall but the Farsley stopper got across well to push away.

Taddy had the better chances in the first half but the visitors responded well and began the second half on the front foot, albeit without creating any opportunities.

It became a battle of two well organised sides and defences were certainly on top.

The Celts put in a number of good crosses box but the likes of Andy Milne, Gregg Anderson, Josh Barrett, Steve Jeff and Jason Mycoe were solid at the back for Taddy once again.

Tom Corner’s strike from the edge of the area brought a routine save for McKibbin.

With time running out, the Brewers were sniffing for the elusive winning goal. They were almost gifted an opportunity when McKibbin dropped a corner at Corner’s feet but, with his back to goal, there was little option but to pass.

Corner played the ball out to Sellar, who then produced his wizardry to beat his man and fire a goalwards. However, the scuffed effort was easily picked up by the goalkeeper.

With stoppage time approaching, Taddy had a strong shout for a penalty when James Knowles appeared to hitch a ride on the back of Tom Corner.

Referee Elliott Howard decided not to award a foul and that wrapped up proceedings.

All in all, it was a game between two teams who cancelled each other out.

A good point for the Brewers who couldn’t find a way through Farsley’s back line and who have still to concede a goal this season.

Tadcaster Albion (v Farsley): Ingham, Barrett, Jeff, Milne, Anderson (Morgan 90), Mycoe, Youhill (Ibrahimi 71), Beadle (c) (Baker 55), Corner, Binns, Sellars. Unused: Shepherd, Parker.

Tom Corner scored the only goal of the game as Taddy beat Mossley last weekend.

Goalkeeper Michael Ingham was a thorn in Mossley’s side producing a string of key saves.

Taddy’s resolute defending proved to pivotal when they took the lead four minutes from half-time. Adam Baker set upTom Corner who instinctively touched and fired in his fourth goal of the season.

It was an action packed afternoon at Seel Park as both sides were fighting incredibly hard for the upper hand.

In the end The Brewers dug in incredibly deep and held on to a gutsy victory. Arguably, a perfect away performance.

Tadcaster (V Mossley): Ingham, Barrett, Jeff, Milne, Anderson, Baker (Youhill 75), Shepherd, Mycoe, Morgan, Beadle (c) (Sellars 68), Corner. Unused substitutes: Ibrahimi, Binn.
