YORK Minster Engineering League champions Old Malton St Mary's take on the league's representative team on Tuesday night in the annual curtain-raiser clash for the season ahead.

The game will be at Wigginton Grasshoppers' ground, kicking off at 6.30 pm.

This fixture is played in memory of Bryan Shearer, who was a member of the York League management committee from 1978 until his death in 2013 and who could be seen at a local football match every Saturday whatever the weather.

The league's rep squad, meanwhile, under managers Andy Barkway and Gary Kitsonare, are aiming to progress further in the National League competition this year, having fallen to Yorkshire Amateur League early on last time. They were only edged 3-2 in their fixture with Teesside League, who went on to reach the final, so know they can compete.

They will also have their usual fixtures against the Scarborough & District League, Yorkshire Amateur League, the Humberside League and the Teesside League.

St Mary's squad: Ben Gill, Connor Shipley, Dean Readman, Simon Cooke, Ryan Boyd, Grant Bulmer, Callum Scott, Robbie Baker, Scott Niclols, Darren Dunning, Richard Dunning, Damon Cox, Steve Baxter, Marcus Godsell, Danny Fogg, Dean Nuttall, Andy Phillips, Tom Hoggard.

York Minster Engineering League rep squad: Aaron Reid (York RI), Chris Bilton (Osbaldwick), James Edmond (Huntington), Dave Watson (Dringhouses), Cam Sanderson (Harrison Signs), Jordan Willoughby (Tadcaster Magnets), Matty Pallister (Copmanthorpe), Josh Lockhurst (Wigginton), Ben Yorke (Riccall), Daniel Pedras (Copmanthorpe), Jordan Outerbridge (Dringhouses), Liam Olson (Huntington), Simon Reeves (Malton & Norton), Nick Lock (Brooklyn), Terry Taylor (Wigginton).
