CLIFFE sealed the York Sunday Morning League division two title with back-to-back wins on consecutive days - before capping their success with a goal fest double-header.

Adie Wood fired a perfect first-half hat-trick - a beautiful left-foot lob, a header from a corner and a right-foot shot - and Lewys Williams, with a fine strike after winning the ball on the edge of the box, also netted as Cliffe saw Selby Olympia off 4-1.

This win gave them the crown before, for good measure, Nathan Parker, Tom Collins, with a free-kick, and Wood, with a headed winner, struck in a 3-2 triumph over Haxby United 24 hours later.

Manager Jackson Lucitt said of the derby win at Olympia: "It was the perfect game to get the lads up for it and they did not disappoint.

"I’d say it was probably our best footballing performance of the season.

"A welcome return and a perfect hat-trick for Aidy Wood set us up nicely to be crowned champions, and in a local derby.

"The lads have worked hard all year, every one of them, and tonight they got what they deserved. I couldn’t be happier or prouder of our achievements and the way we’ve built on last season."

Cliffe, who have been homeless this term due to drainage problems at their ground, then met Beeswing twice on Sunday and won the two games 6-1 and 8-1 to finish the season 12 points clear at the summit. They had won division three by nine points 12 months earlier.

Parker bagged four goals in the opener and Ryan Tiplady the other two.

Parker did even better in the second fixture, scoring five times, including two penalties, to take his season's tally to 40, while Alex Hartley, with a long-range effort, Dan Richardson, with two, also found the net.

Meanwhile, York Nomads and Dunnington closed out the division one season with a double-header.

Nomads won the first game 4-3 but Dunnington hit back with a 5-2 win in the second.
