YORK Schoolboys under-13s travelled to unbeaten league leaders Leeds.

York were stretched early on and Leo Jones had to make a timely

tackle in the area. York pressed forward with Alfie Evan, Harvey Stephenson setting up Luke Jones.

Goalkeeper Joseph Hodge kept Leeds at bay supported by defenders Olly Hanley, Alfie Evans and Leo Jones.

York wingers, Liam White and Connor Teale aided by Elliot Oliver and Stephenson tried to get forwards Ben Calam and Luke Jones involved.

In the first minute of the second half Leeds caught York napping with a square pass for their striker to score.

Jacob Caringella, Leo Jones, Olly Hanley and Evans held firm with Nathan Storr making a great stop.

York had their best spell as Liam White and Ben Calam both had shots saved.

White took on the Leeds defence and a floated effort was dropped by the home goalkeeper allowing Ben Rhodes to score his first goal for York.

Calam’s corner found Jones in the penalty area and after skipping through a packed defence he shot wide.

A lapse of concentration allowed a Leeds attacker through on goal, his shot was palmed away by Hodge it fell to a Leeds striker making it 2-1 at the final whistle.

York Schoolboys under-12s hosted Leeds in a pivotal game at the top the league.

York goalkeeper Edgar was called on in the opening minutes before York’s Harry Tinker was injured.

Leeds opened the scoring. York midfielders Oliver Kilvington had one chance cleared and created another for Will Hollings.

Heath, Lowe, Hudson and Turbine ensured York enjoyed long spells of possession. But the visitors added a second goal from a powerful free kick.

York left winger Taylor Bell kept Lewis Humphreys supplied with crosses. Meehan and Roughley made some solid tackles but could not stop Leeds from scoring a third goal.

Dan Tingle typified the strong York spirit with a battling performance.

York’s under-11 schoolboys represented North Yorkshire in the North of England 7-a-side competition at the Sunderland Academy of Light.

York produced an excellent defensive display in a goalless draw with Bootle.

Against Carlisle York conceding an early goal though Harrison Cain added a late equaliser. York then struggled to deal with Sunderland’s pace, losing the game 4-2. Their goals were scored by Will Hotson and Ellis Cattaneo.

York needed to a win in the final match but could not take their chances allowing Sheffield to score late on to win 1-0.
