HUNTINGTON Rovers and Dunnington set up a huge title clash tonight after maintaining their challenges for the York Minster Engineering League reserve 'A' crown.

Rovers edged out Thorpe United 3-2 in a tense game, while Dunnington saw off Tadcaster Magnets 6-1.

First-half goals from Chris Johnson, whose deep cross deceived everyone and floated in at the far post, and Lee Bunce put Rovers two up at the break.

Nathan Parker and Matthew Pearse hit back for Thorpe to set up a tight finish, in which Bunce headed home a Luke Whittaker cross to seal the points.

Dunnington fell behind at Magnets but finished much the stronger.

Hassan Sambou struck to earn Dringhouses a 1-1 draw at home to Old Malton, the visitors ruing a missed penalty five minutes from time.

Wigginton Grasshoppers returned to winning ways, Tom Kite bagging a brace in a 5-2 win over Church Fenton, Jack Green, James Sutton and Tom Coates also on target.

Malton & Norton were crowned reserve 'B' champions following a hard-fought 2-1 win at Bishopthorpe United.

Kingsley Daffern bagged a brace in the first half and, although Bish pulled a goal back in the second period, the visitors hung on to seal the three points they needed.

Hemingbrough United sit within a point of promotion to reserve 'A' following a 3-2 win at Heslington.

Harry Jackson, Josh Gill and Ricky Hutton struck for the visitors with Heslington’s replies coming from Lee Topping and Danny Walters.

Relegation to reserve 'C' is still a possibility for several sides.

One of those teams is Easingwold Town, who lost 4-0 at Pocklington.

Osbaldwick secured promotion from reserve 'C' and are now just one point away from the title following their 14th consecutive victory.

The 10-0 demolition of Malt Shovel underlined their supremacy and saw eight different scorers in Ellis Stephenson (3), Matty O’Connell (2) James Samuel, Alex Fraser, Nick Lawrie, Stevie Smith and Mike Whiteley.

Selby Olympia also won 10-1 against bottom club Fulford United to give their promotion hopes a boost.
