Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division: Tadcaster Albion 5 Handsworth Parramore 2

A HAT-trick from Josh Greening and a brace from Tom Corner helped The Brewers see off ten-man Handsworth Parramore and replace them at the top after their goalkeeper saw red on an afternoon when the i2i Stadium was rocking in the sunshine – a far cry from the floods of earlier in the season.

Manager Billy Miller named an unchanged side to the one that beat Albion Sports like week, with Jordan Armstrong the only different name on the bench after returning from injury.

However, The Ambers took a lead in the 11th minute, having had an opportunity inside the first 60 seconds.

Danny Buttle found himself in acres of space on the left, and the midfielder crossed to the unmarked Jon Froggatt, who volleyed home from close range.

But sides are most vulnerable when they have scored, and Taddy bounced straight back, Conor Sellars crossing to the back post where Adam Baker's flick bounced into the path of Greening, who diverted the ball into the back of the net.

Six minutes later, the in-sync Baker and Greening were at it again. Jason Mycoe won a midfield battle and Baker played a perfectly-weighted through ball, Greening sliding it calmly beyond Andy Sneath for Albion's 100th goal of the season.

Five minutes before half-time, a punch by Gary Stevens set up a Brewers counter-attack.

Baker drove down the right wing and Jimmy Beadle flicked the ball over the Ambers' backline to Corner, who helped the bouncing ball over Andy Sneath but saw his effort scrambled off the line by Richard Adams.

However, when Corner guided it over Sneath, the Handsworth shot-stopper collided with the new Taddy No 9, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.

The Taddy faithful were crying 'off, off, off' to the keeper, and the referee agreed, showing him a red card.

After winning the spot-kick, Corner had to wait an age as Handsworth brought on under-19 player Tyler Bates to go between the sticks, but the striker kept his nerve, stroking the ball home to make it 3-1.

A minute into the second half, The Brewers put more daylight between the promotion-chasing teams.

Sellars' corner was headed away by captain Adams but Mycoe superbly guided the ball over the defence for Corner to flick it backwards past the hapless Bates – his third goal in three matches since signing from Scarborough Athletic.

Plucky Handsworth pulled a goal back just shy of the hour, however, as Simon Harrison bent a stunning 22-yard free-kick past the helpless Stevens.

The visitors were vulnerable to the counter-attack, though, with the chances chiefly falling to substitute Carl Stewart, while, at the other end, Kieran Wells almost bagged his 33rd of the season, his header flying inches over.

With two minutes to go, Tadcaster did make it a five-star afternoon as Greening completed his hat-trick.

Mycoe's 30-yard rocket was well stopped by Bates but Greening was on hand to smash the ball into the roof of the net with his weaker right foot to cap a brilliant victory, the Brewers going a point clear with a game in hand.

Team: Stevens, Barrett, Clayton, Milne, Anderson, Mycoe, Baker (Black 53), Beadle (captain), Corner (Conway 84), Greening, Sellars (Stewart 53). Unused substitute: Heath, Armstrong.
