ONCE again the York Sunday Morning League schedule was hit by rain last week – but that didn't stop Hounds putting ten goals past Hambleton without reply.

Gary Collier led the way, bagging half of his team's tally. Chris Jackson (2), Jamie England, Steven Frost and Jordan Emery also got in on the act as Hounds moved just three points behind leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers, and also enjoy a game in hand over their rivals.

The other games in division one came courtesy of a double-header at Dunnington.

The home side won the first game 2-1 thanks to efforts from Rob Hart and Simon Castle, but then lost the second game 2-0.

Brayton moved six points clear at the top of division two after two clear-cut wins in their double-header with York Medics.

They took an early lead, with striker Will Cleary adding to his impressive tally with a neat finish after just 16 minutes.

Chances kept coming Brayton’s way but they had to wait until after the break to double their advantage, Paul Tiffany making no mistake from the spot after Dale Holt had been felled.

Tiffany added his second to wrap the points up for the home side just a few minutes from time.

The second game between the sides went 40 minutes without a goal, Joe Krygsman finally breaking the deadlock to put Brayton in front.

Just two minutes later and they were two in front, Rob Guest jinking into the area before curling his shot into the top right-hand corner of the goal. Krygsman poked home a third for Brayton after 50 minutes, and the scoring was completed when Luke Kitson struck his first of the season, the defender hammering home a thunderous volley direct from a corner.

The two clashes between fellow title contenders Cliffe and Thorpe went largely the way of the former as they won the second game 3-0 following an initial goalless draw.

An own goal, Nathan Parker and Tom Hogg made up the Cliffe tally in the second game, securing them four points on the day.

Third-placed Marcia Bishopthorpe had a bad day at the office. They drew their first game with Selby Olympia 2-2 and then went down 5-1 in the second match.

NUR got their title challenge back on track with a 6-2 triumph over hosts Wentworth. Will Moss put Wentworth ahead from the penalty spot early on but NUR fired back with goals from Gary Stephenson (2), James O’Donnell and Jason Newman.

In the second half, a brace from Danny Cotton made it 6-1 before Moss ensured he book-ended the scoring with a second Wentworth penalty.
