YORK Schoolboys Under-13s were too strong for Nottingham earning a 6-2 league success.

Elliot Oliver put York 1-0 up in the 11th minute from a precise Luke Jones cross.

Jones added a second from Ben Calam's defence splitting pass.

Nottingham made it 2-1 after 20 minutes. York defenders Leo Jones, Ben Rhodes, Alfie Evans and Olly Hanley kept the visitors at bay.

In the second half goalkeeper Joseph Hodge was rarely troubled but couldn't prevent Nottingham's equaliser.

York's efforts were rewarded when Luke Jones scored a third from his own rebound.

In the 63rd minute Evans' free kick found Liam White and his shot beat the defence and the goalkeeper to extend the lead to 4-2.

Ben Calam was injured in a penalty area collision but his replacement Harvey Stephenson struck the ball into the roof of the net following a rebound from Liam White's point blank shot.

Goalkeeper Hodge's clearance was flicked on by White and chased down by Jones who calmly stroked the ball under the advancing keeper for his hat-trick in an impressive 6-2 victory.

York Under-12 were grateful to earn a 3-3 league draw in Nottingham and some vital scouting notes for the Michael Dale Trophy final next month.

An understrength Minster side had the better of the first 10 minutes though they lost Isaac Meehan to a hamstring injury necessitating the use of York's only substitute.

Nottingham opened the scoring when the ball came off Ben Hudson's leg into the net.

Jack Lowe and Elliott Heath created chances for York before the hosts doubled their lead.

York rallied as Heath found Will Hollings who fired home.

York got players forward but it backfired as Nottingham scored again to lead 3-1.

Joe Roughly, Dan Tingle and Taylor Bell had outstanding games. Heath refused to give up and were rewarded when Lowe's goal reduced the arrears.

York had Tingle carried off following a late tackle reducing the side to eight players. Taylor Bell then took a nasty blow to the knee but stayed on the field.

With five minutes remaining Kilvington put Heath into a one on one with the goalkeeper, his shot struck the crossbar and into an open net to level the scores.

York defended several free kicks and goalkeeper Edgar tipped one onto the crossbar.

York showed terrific character and staying power and will be a force to be reckoned with in the final next month.
