QUAKERWOOD moved to within six points of York Sunday Morning League division one leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 win over York Nomads.

Myron Turbine's perfect diagonal pass carved open the Nomads leaving Alex Day free to slot home from the edge of the box.

Dan Andrew levelled but the game was settled when Day beat three players and squared for Lewis Chipchase to fire home the winner.

Unbeaten Hounds won a ten-goal thriller with Dunnington 6-4 to go fourth.

Chris Jackson scored four for Hounds, Ben Olsson and Gareth Roberts also bagging.

Malt Shovel won 4-3 at Hambleton with goals by Wayne Brook (2), Josh Brigham and Jack Stocks.

In division two, Brayton continued their good run with a 3-0 victory over a strong Selby Olympia side. Both teams forced chances in the first half but were denied by excellent goalkeeping until Ryan Davidson powered home a header from a Patrick Guest corner.

The next goal was vital and both teams squandered chances before Joe Krygsman coolly slotted home after good play from Kyle Wilks and Will Cleary.

With ten minutes left, Cleary tapped in on a breakaway after the visitors' keeper failed to deal with a Paul Tiffany cross-shot.

In-form Thorpe United beat lowly Knapton Lions 6-0.

Matthew Harker headed through to Jake Wild who raced away and placed the ball to the keeper's left. It was 2-0 on the half-hour when Shaun Gandy evaded several defenders before poking the ball through the keeper's legs.

Knapton had two goals disallowed for foul play before Gandy doubled his tally when firing home Wild's cross.

Shortly after the break, Daniel Jones' mazy run resulted in skipper James Newnham smashing the ball into the top right corner. Gandy turned provider for Wild, who fired in on the turn, and substitute Andrew Jackson completed the scoring.
