THERE were convincing wins for five of the York Minster Engineering Premier division's top six teams as the race for the title heats up.

Huntington Rovers gained an effortless 6-0 triumph at home to Harrison Signs to maintain their three point lead at the top of the division. Chris Dyson netted a hat-trick with John James (2) and Lee Jackson also adding to the scoresheet.

Dunnington stayed within striking range of the leaders after a 5-1 win at Church Fenton White Horse.

Martin Day, Robert Chipps, Will Pepper, Dan Andrew and Ben Small all struck gold for the visitors. Dunnington remain three points behind with a game in hand.

With Wigginton Grasshoppers on a free week, Riccall United closed up to within a point of third place with a 4-1 home win over York Railway Institute.

Wayne Brook and Liam Brown both collected braces for the defending champions with Josh Coulson hitting RI's consolation. Meanwhile, Old Malton St Mary's, who are by no means a forlorn hope for the title, continued their steady climb up the ranks with an 8-1 demolition of Dringhouses, for whom Sam Drake fired home a consolation.

F1 Racing sit sixth following a high scoring 7-4 success over Copmanthorpe.

Liam King put F1 ahead early in the game only to see Copmanthorpe equalise through Jonny Brown after 15 minutes.

F1 then rattled home five more goals before the break as George Trifan (2), Adam Tiffany, Darryl Boulton and Jonah Tomlin-Kent gave them a 6-1 half-time lead. Brown completed his hat-trick as Copmanthorpe quickly pulled it back to 6-4 within ten minutes of the restart.

However, F1 closed out the game in the 80th minute when Chris Dempsey sealed the points for the home side.

Osbaldwick moved themselves out of the drop zone with a 4-1 win over fellow strugglers Brooklyn.

Chris Bilton put the home side into the lead in the first minute of the game and Tom Wheatland doubled the lead five minutes later.

Sam Thompson put the result beyond doubt on the half-hour mark, making it 3-0, with Brooklyn hitting a consolation goal in the 50th minute. A second goal for Wheatland finished the scoring 15 minutes from time.

Malton & Norton and Pocklington Town moved clear in the race for the Premier division with both recording hard fought wins over determined opposition.

Si Reeves put Malton & Norton in front against Poppleton, only to see the away side equalise a minute into the second half.

Despite many chances for the home side to restore the lead, Poppleton held firm until Reeves was able to break the deadlock once more - scoring the goal that gave Malton and Norton a 2-1 win and allowed them to retain top spot in division one.

Pocklington remain two points adrift of the leaders after a 3-2 win at York St John. Chris Murray and Tom Knowles gave Town a 2-0 lead but the students scored twice in quick succession to level. As a draw looked inevitable, Jack Overton hit a last minute winner for the visitors.

Hemingbrough are third after a 5-1 win allowed them to leapfrog rivals Sporting Knavesmire.

Luke Zacharenko, Chris Land, Iain Blackburn (2) and substitute Tom Collins inflicted the damage on Knavesmire who sit in fifth - level on points with both Hemingbrough and Poppleton.

Heslington and Rawcliffe shared four goals between them with neither side being able to produce a winner. Veteran clubman Stuart Dickinson and Dale Holding struck for the home side with Henry Wharton and Simon Wilson on target for Rawcliffe.
