IT was cloud nine for York Schoolboys Under-12s when they hammered Spen Valley.

The Minstermites got back to winning ways in fine style as they kept the visiting goalkeeper busy throughout the clash in a 9-1 win.

Ten minutes into the game, Harry Tinker received the ball from Will Hollings wide on the right and beat two defenders before cutting into the box and firing into the top corner.

But, on the quarter hour mark, Spen Valley equalised and were on top for five minutes until Hollings picked up a loose clearance on the edge of the box and curled his shot into the net.

George Turbine then slotted home a penalty after being tripped when beating several players on his way into the box and a rampant York scored again when Jack Lowe finished a move that involved most of the team.

Lewis Humphreys got on the scoresheet when he was the recipient of a five yard tap in from an Oliver Kilvington square ball and it was six when Lowe capped a fine performance with his second goal of the game.

The Minstermen weren't finished yet and, when Kilvington hit a drive that the Valley keeper couldn't hold, Humphreys was on hand to net his brace.

Dan Tingle started the game at the centre of defence but began playing further upfield and, in his usual composed manner, received the ball from Tinker and finished from the edge of the box.

With five minutes remaining, Will Hollings finished off the scoring with a fine goal as York made it 9-1.

Spen Valley never stopped trying in very difficult conditions and had spells in the game where they managed to keep York at bay but the Minster team were clinical in finishing a half of the season that saw them win seven, lose only one, score 30 goals and concede eight.

York Schoolboys U11s produced an outstanding performance as they beat Leeds 7-1.

York were on the front foot throughout the game and their desire, matched with their quality, proved too much to handle for Leeds.

Skipper Caiden Butler led the team from the front in spectacular fashion - scoring a hat-trick - and earned himself man of the match honours.

Owen Dunckley, Mathew Dawes, Ellis Cattaneo and Cole Gayles also collected a goal each.

York's attacking play was exemplary but a solid defensive performance consistently snubbed any Leeds threat and the back four was expertly marshalled by Archie Brown and Will Hotson.
