YORK COLLEGE student Hannah Greenwood has been selected to represent the English College's national team.
The former Easingwold School pupil was asked, along with three other students from the Sim Balk Lane venue's Girls Football Development Centre, to attend trials and she was picked.
Greenwood, who also plays for Leeds Centre of Excellence, said: "I attended two trials before receiving the invite to play for the national squad.
"We will be training at the Etihad Campus in Manchester before playing against Wales, combined independent school teams at Charterhouse school in Surrey and then on to Lisbon where, if we get through, we will play against the best team in Portugal.
"This is such an amazing opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to it. My family, friends and tutors are all proud of my achievements and have been very supportive.”
Gordon Staniforth, sports development centre coordinator and Hannah’s college coach, added: "Hannah is a tremendous ambassador for the York College Football Development Centre.
"She has very good techniques and skills and deserves her place in the English Colleges National Squad. Hannah plays in defence and leads by example. We will follow her progress closely during the international fixtures.”
