PICKERING TOWN'S mini-run came to an end when they were beaten 1-0 at Retford United in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

Manager Paul Marshall's men had gone three games without defeat before their trip to Nottinghamshire but Adam Lee's goal in condemned them to defeat.

In very windy conditions, Joe Danby hit a post for the Pikes and, from a corner, the visitors hit the crossbar twice in a matter of seconds as the teams somehow went in level at the break.

But Lee popped up 13 minutes after the break to grab Retford's winner as Pickering dropped to 11th in the table.

Tadcaster Albion's premier division clash at Staveley Miners Welfare was postponed, as was Selby Town's division one trip to Penistone Church. Harrogate Railway's trip to Bamber Bridge in Evo-Stik first division north was also a victim of the weather and Scarborough Athletic will have wished their game was too.

The Seadogs were beaten 3-0 at home by Burscough. They fell behind after only two minutes through Paul Williams and the visitors added to their advantage through Andrew Lewis three minutes after the restart.

Williams struck again, 11 minutes from time, to condemn Scarborough to defeat.

Harrogate Town also tasted defeat in a 2-1 reverse at Gainsborough Trinity in National League North.

They got off to the perfect start, Jack Emmett putting them in front six minutes in.

But Gainsborough struck twice after the break, through Nathan Jarman 11 minutes after the restart and Darryn Stamp on 83 minutes, to take all three points.
