OLD MALTON St Mary's made the most of icy conditions to beat York Minster Engineering League premier division leaders Huntington Rovers 2-0.

The win sees the Ryedale side move to within eight points of Rovers with the luxury of four games in hand.

Despite enjoying the better of the possession, Huntington didn't force many clear goal scoring opportunities in the first half and, when they did, Ben Gill had all of the answers in the Malton goal.

A Callum Scott header close to the end of the first half separated the sides at the interval, Malton converting one of only two real chances they had created.

The second half saw Huntington pressing for an equaliser which never arrived and, instead, Danny Fogg was able to wrap the points up for the visitors as Malton put their name among the title contenders once again.

Dunnington are also right there with the title challengers after their 3-1 win at Brooklyn moved them to within three points of pole position with a game in hand.

Rob Chipps bagged a brace for the Common Road side, with Martin Day adding a third.

Defending champions Riccall United maintained their recent run of good form, putting seven past Dringhouses without reply.

Wayne Brook hit four in the rout, with Ian Beckram (2) and Josh O'Neill completing the scoring on a miserable day for 'Houses.

Scott Caul struck for Harrison Signs but goals from Philip Smith (2), Jake Barber, John Crowley and Ryan Ferguson gave Tadcaster Magnets a much needed 5-1 win and lifted them clear of the drop zone.

In the North Riding County FA County Cup, a bad tempered game saw F1 Racing come out second best in a 6-4 loss to unbeaten Teesside League leaders Boro Rangers.

Despite taking the lead on the half hour mark, F1 found themselves 3-1 down at the break.

In the second half, F1 were punished as they chased the equaliser that they deserved, eventually losing by a two goal margin.

F1's goals were from Danny Penrose, Chris Dempsey and George Trifan (2).
