WIGGINTON Grasshoppers returned to the top of the York Minster Engineering League premier division with a 3-0 victory over Osbaldwick in the top tier's only fixture.

Wiggy took the lead when Matthew Tiplady robbed a defender from a short goal kick and slotted home past Tom Young in the Osso goal.

Both sides saw penalty appeals waved away, while Young was at his finest to defy Jamie Willstrop and Gary Newton.

With an hour gone, Tiplady pulled the ball back for Willstrop to rifle home. An exquisite chip from Luke Addison, his first premier league goal, sealed the victory.

In division one, Easingwold pulled off a major shock in defeating high-flying Heslington thanks to an early Jordan Green strike.

Heslington threw everything bar the kitchen sink at their hosts, but they defended resolutely to claim the points.

Joe Dale bagged four goals, and Luke Wilkinson the fifth, as Poppleton United beat York St John 5-2, Matthew Thompson and Chris Trewick replying.

Paul Moran was the four-goal hero as South Milford upset division three leaders Moor Lane 4-3 in a thriller. Andrew Kenyon (2) and Oliver Shimmin struck for the table-toppers.

Bubwith won 5-2 at Huby United as Andy Stone grabbed a hat-trick with Craig Atkin and Will Nicholson also on target. Steve Aconley and Tom Green netted for Huby.

Rufforth United beat Jorvik Blades 11-2, Joe Cox bagging both consolation goals.

Heworth Green made it six from six in division four with a 7-1 demolition of Settrington.

Danny Marshall hit a hat-trick, Mark Foster (2), Calum MacKenzie and John Moore also netting.

The Raj also maintained their 100 per cent start with a 5-1 win at Huntington. Shane Bogg struck twice and later missed a penalty. Callum Greenwood, James Burns and Arron Rose also netted.

James Smith (2), Ben Patchesa and Steve McLean struck in Wheldrake’s 4-0 win over New York WMC.
