PICKERING TOWN thumped Brigg Town 5-0 to climb to mid-table in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

Ryan Cooper opened the scoring in the third minute when he headed in from Callum Richardson's cross and it was 2-0 in the 12th minute when the Pikes received the first of two penalties.

Cooper was brought down and Lewis Taylor stepped up to convert. He added a second spot-kick on 17 minutes after Ged Dalton was fouled in the box.

Taylor got the fourth, and his hat-trick, on the half hour after netting following a perfectly timed run and manager Paul Marshall's men were buoyant going in at the break.

The fifth was added six minutes after the restart. George Bissett played a long ball to Joe Danby, who found Cooper. His shot rebounded to Dalton, who scored from the rebound.

Knaresborough Town moved up to seventh with a 4-1 win over Glasshoughton Welfare.

They fell behind in the sixth minute to Luke Durham's goal but a Blaine Hobson brace and goals from George Eustance and Graham Whitehead secured a comfortable victory.
