YORK RI propelled themselves up to second in the York Minster Engineering League Premier division with a 2-0 victory over Harrison Signs.

With many clubs in County Cup action, the New Laners took full advantage - a goal in each half from the free-scoring Leigh Dutton proving enough to secure the points.

RI are now level on points with leaders Huntington Rovers, who enjoy a better goal difference.

Dave Watson gave Dringhouses the lead at Osbaldwick after 33 minutes but Chris Bilton levelled for the home side on the hour mark.

The two sides remained locked together as they both had to settle for a point.

Andrew Targett headed home for Church Fenton after ten minutes of their game with Tadcaster Magnets and Adam Beavers doubled their lead midway through the second half to give the White Horse side a 2-0 win as they moved up to eighth in the table.

Magnets remain rooted at the foot of the division.

Huntington Rovers and Wigginton Grasshoppers had started the day in first and second in the Premier table and there was little to choose between the sides in their North Riding County Cup clash.

Jordan Holt headed Wigginton ahead in the 41st minute but Gary Mitchinson equalised four minutes after the break. The sides were still locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes and it was Grasshoppers who progressed - winning the penalty shootout 4-3.

F1 edged a very good game against Bedale 3-2. They came from behind twice to triumph with a late Paul Bentley header.

Jason McCloud and George Trifan were also on target.

Danny Leach hit a hat-trick in Copmanthorpe’s 7-1 win over Lakes United. Daniel Pedras (2), Robin Bedford and Matty Pallister also notched in the win. Old Malton St Mary’s progressed to round two after dispatching Nunthorpe Athletic 4-1.

Sporting Knavesmire, meanwhile, moved up to third in division one with a 5-3 win over Poppleton United. Alex Dale bagged a brace in the victory with Ryan Gothard, Danny Smith and Dan Owers also finding the net.

A 93rd minute winner from Henry Swires gave Tockwith a 2-1 success over York St John, while first half goals from Henry Wharton and Johnny Moss gave Rawcliffe their first league win of the season as they saw off Easingwold 2-0.

In division two, Thorpe United ended table toppers Strensall’s winning run as they ran riot in a 5-0 triumph over their hosts. Andrew Wilson, Tommy Butterfield, Steven Frost, Jordan Emery and substitute Daniel Thompson struck the visitors’ goals.

Barmby Moor sit second in the table after Liam Booth (2), Jack Lockwood and Shaun Elvidge scored in a 4-1 win over Barmby Moor. Haxby United collected their first points of the season with a 3-1 win over Fulford.
