BILLY MILLER believes Colne will provide a "very difficult" test for his table-topping Tadcaster Albion side when their pair meet in the FA Cup preliminary round tomorrow.

The Brewers are in fine form, a 2-0 victory over Staveley Miners Welfare putting them at the summit of the Northern Counties East League Premier division with Worksop and recording their third successive clean sheet.

Andrew Milne and substitute Adam Baker got the goals on Tuesday night to leave Miller delighted but the Albion boss is under no illusions about the size of the task that faces them at Ings Lane in the Cup.

North West Counties Premier-based Colne are also flying, having not lost any of their first four league encounters and having finished fourth in the division last season.

But Miller says his side are now built on solid foundations, after a shaky start defensively, and is expecting a "fantastic FA Cup tie".

He explained: "I have been really pleased (with recent form). We had a couple of shaky starts in terms of goals conceded and that is something we have worked really hard on. We now have a really strong foundation and to keep three clean sheets on the bounce is some achievement.

"What we have tried to do is really highlight to the players what their roles and responsibilities are.

"If you take Parkgate out of it, and I think that's a game we threw away, we have learned really well. Hebburn was a nervous performance but we got through and have built on that.

"Against Brigg, a 5-0 win, we did what we needed to do against a relatively young side and Tuesday night was probably our toughest test. They were well organised and quick. We restricted them to having not too many chances. They had a bit of possession but didn't really have any clear cut chances."

On the Colne clash, he added: "I think it is going to be very, very difficult. They are a very well organised and established side. They have got exactly the same ambitions we have. They have a phenomenal fan base but they are beatable on the day and it makes for a fantastic FA Cup tie.

"The place will be rocking. Our fans will be loud and vocal and it could be a fantastic game of football."

Josh Barrett took a knock against Staveley but Miller is expecting him to be fit to play. There may also soon be returns for Carl Stewart and Nick Thompson, who are both back in light training.

Also in the FA Cup preliminary round, Scarborough Athletic are at Consett and Harrogate Railway await Spennymoor Town at Station View.

Elsewhere, Selby Town, who got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway in NCEL division one on Tuesday night, entertain Hemsworth Miners Welfare, while Knaresborough Town host Yorkshire Amateur.

Harrogate Town, fresh from a 0-0 draw with Tamworth, go to Chorley in National League North.
