STRENSALL Tigers Under-7s got to live a dream most professional footballers will never experience - to play on the famous Camp Nou pitch in Barcelona.

Ten players - nine boys and a girl - stepped on to the famous Spanish surface while playing in a one-day tournament hosted by Precision Pass.

They played three matches on the club's 3G training ground pitches before making their way to the Camp Nou for the final two games.

Coach Dave Carrington said: "The competition was tough. Despite it being classed as non-competitive, the team had to take on some big city academy sides that had also travelled across for the experience from Northumberland and Merseyside.

"They performed fantastically, gaining plaudits and recognition for their skills and organisation from such teams and were able to hold their heads high that a small team from Strensall had held their own in such company."

During the day, the youngsters were taken into one of the stadium's presidential suites, before making their way to the players' dressing rooms to prepare for their matches on the pitch.

They lined up in the tunnel before being announced to the spectators and making their way out into the stadium accompanied by the Champions League music.

The team was supported by D Carrington Electrical Services Ltd, NimBean Ltd, David Tompkins Ltd among others.
