H-BLOCK power ruled in the brace of York & Ryedale Mitchell Sports Football League finals at York City’s Bootham Crescent base.
Hamilton Panthers Yellows lifted the under-11s cup after edging past Heworth 1-0.
With both teams defending well there was little to choose between the rivals in the first half, where the best chances fell to Panthers’ Ben Thornton.
However, his three attempts in quick succession, and all at close range, were saved by Heworth goalkeeper Todd Edgar.
The same striker continued to persist and it was Thornton who finally broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half with a cool finish that sealed a League and Cup double for the Hamilton ranks.
Only one goal also separated the finalists in the U12s’ showdown with the trophy going to Huntington, who downed Dringhouses 2-1, and also secured a one-two of title and knockout success.
The rivals cancelled each other out until the last minute of the first half when Olly Hanley hammered Huntington into a half-time lead.
The lead endured for a mere two minutes into the second half after Ben Heath pounced to restore parity.
But Dringhouses’ hopes were dashed by Luke Jones, who drove the ball home from 20 yards for a deserved winner.
