SHARP-SHOOTING Stamford Bridge narrowed the gap in division three of the York Minster Engineering Football League after a six of the best display.

The Bridge crew featured in the only third division game of the day and crushed Crayke 6-0.

The haul was shared between John Cavanagh (2), Paul Upton, Jamie Rank, Nathan Spreckley and Chris Bowles to nudge them to within four points of leaders Kirkbymoorside.

Wetherby and Cawood started the day level on points in division four, but it was Cawood who proved the dominant force winning 5-0 when the two sides met.

An own goal, allied to strikes from Darren Davis, Daniel Smith (2) and Matthew Ward, put Cawood top.

Huntington WMC gained a 6-1 win at Wheldrake, for who James Smith found the net. Dan Hunter, Jamie Kirby and Shane Bogg collected braces for the WMC side.

Chris Ling and Lewis Smith were on target for Melbourne in the 2-0 home win over Settrington.

LNER Builders played Huntington in a double-header.

The first game was a 3-3 draw, with Luke Brown (2) and Dan Shaw bagging for Builders, who then triumphed 4-1 in which Brown again, Martyn Gill (2) and Gary Hardcastle struck.

Dunnington moved into second place in reserve ‘A’ thanks to a 5-0 success against Riccall United.

The defending champions now have leaders Wigginton Grasshoppers, who are nine points clear, fixed in their sights with six games in hand. The scorers were Matthew Rose (2), Samson Wildwood, Danny Aston and Tom Matthews.

Dave Hartas kept his scoring streak alive with four goals from centre-half as Wigginton triumphed 7-1 at Tadcaster Magnets. Tom Jackson, Steve Jarvis and Rob Orr completed the scoring for the visitors.

Huntington gained a decisive 8-3 success at Copmanthorpe. Pete Laidlaw opened the scoring with a free-kick and Kieran Flanagan struck four times to give Rovers a 5-0 half-time lead.

Copmanthorpe twice found the net through Nathan Kilby and Jordan Blackstock before Flanagan went on to complete his double hat-trick. Adrian Hammond notched Cop’s third before Ali Bell grabbed Huntington’s eighth.

Aaron North (2), Matthew Jackson and Danny Wood were York RI’s aces in the 4-1 win over Old Malton St Mary’s.

Church Fenton White Horse maintained their seven-point lead over Thorpe United at the top of reserve ‘B’ with a 2-1 victory over visitors Fulford United underpinned by Brad Robertson and Chris Thompson strikes.

Will Wood and Andy Pope hit the net for Stamford Bridge but visitors Bishopthorpe triumphed 3-2.

Hamilton Panthers kept up their reserve ‘C’ title charge with a 6-1 success over Rufforth United. Joe Gaughan and Nathan Robinson picked up braces with Lloyd Crawford and Tom Atkin also obliging.

Tockwith suffered a shock reversal, going down 3-2 at Bishop Wilton. Matthew Wilson and Rich Beil (2) were on target for the victorious Wilton side.

F1 Racing went nap with a 5-1 smiting of Selby Olympia, the booty shared between Sam Hope (2), Ben Calverley, Danny Penrose and Mike Taylor.

Luke Quantock’s hat-trick eclipsed the efforts of Declan Parkes and Lewis Hardy as Strensall beat Civil Service 3-2.
