MARCIA Grey ousted division two rivals Britannia Tadcaster 4-1 to set up a semi-final date with Station in the quarter-finals of the York Sunday Morning Football League Cup.

Tommy Medd put the hosts in front before Darren Smith met a free-kick at the back post to head home and double the advantage.

Tadcaster hit back before half-time, but the second half was one-way traffic and a Liam Shepherd chip soon made it 3-1.

In division one, Wigginton and Station squared up for the first time in the league this season, and it was Grasshoppers who emerged with the points from a narrow 4-3 victory.

Station took only two minutes to respond, with Brenton Leister hitting the leveller.

Despite further Station pressure, it was the home side who went in front before the break, courtesy of a sublime curling 18-yard strike from Jamie Willstrop.

Hoppers came to life in the second period and took control of the game.

Steve Jarvis raced through the Station back line in the 60th minute to hammer home a stunning strike from ten yards.

Minutes later Jarvis turned provider, squaring the ball for Willstrop to wrong-foot the keeper and make it 4-1.

With only five minutes remaining, an ambitious effort from his own half by Station’s Craig Allen somehow made it past the Wigginton goalkeeper and into the net.

Derry Robson set up a grandstand finish when he fired home to bring Station within a goal of equalising, but the home side held out.

In division three, second-placed Thorpe United defeated fourth-placed York Phoenix 2-0.
