WITH main title contenders not in action, Wigginton Grasshoppers and Huntington Rovers maximised the chance to pressure their York Minster Engineering Football League reserve ‘A’ rivals.

Wigginton despatched Copmanthorpe 3-0, James Sutton bagging a brace and Dave Hartas weighing in with a 35-yard screamer.

Huntington endured a blank first half at home to Haxby, but a brace of goals from Kieran Flanagan made certain of the points in the second period.

In reserve ‘B’, Church Fenton White Horse took another step closer to promotion with a 12-1 annihilation of Poppleton United.

There were hat-tricks for Adam Beavers, Chris Thompson and Mark Oldfield, but the pick of White Horse’s goals came from James Mason, who went on to register a brace.

Steve Sutton completed the home side’s scoring.

Harrison Signs climbed above opponents Stamford Bridge thanks to a solitary goal from villain turned hero Joe Micheli.

His strike atoned for missing a penalty earlier in the match.

Heslington continued to climb the ranks with a 2-1 victory over Bishopthorpe, courtesy of goals from Russ Carr and Pete Norman.

Brooklyn and Hemingbrough shared six goals evenly with the Brooklyn tally comprising strikes from Rob Goforth, Callum Dunning and an own goal.

The Brough tally was shared between Dan Collins (2) and Matthew Williams.

Hamilton Panthers moved six points clear of Tockwith at the top of reserve ‘C’ with a 5-2 victory over Bishop Wilton.

The away team’s goals were struck by Matthew Wilson and Darren Outerson.

F1 Racing went fourth with a 5-1 triumph at Strensall, for whom Luke Quantock scored.

Jericho Keys (2), Adam Love (2) and Jamie Wheeler found the net for F1.

Selby Olympia and Cliffe were deadlocked at 1-1 with half an hour to go, but a frantic closing period saw the score end 3-2 in Olympia’s favour despite goals from Cliffe’s Sean Gallagher and Nathan Horner.
