UNBEATEN division two side York Nomads reached the semi-finals of the York Sunday Morning League Cup with a 7-2 win over division one Hounds.

Much of the credit for the victory went to in-form hitman Chris Dyson, who gave the Hounds’ back four the run around en-route to a personal tally of four goals.

Tom Wheatland (2) and Sam Thompson were Nomads’ other scorers, with Gary Chapman hitting a second half brace for Hounds.

Top-flight Station travelled to lower league Brayton in the second quarter-final and cruised through to the penultimate stage of the competition with an 8-1 triumph.

Harry Brigham, Ryan Whitlam and Callum Roe-Dixon gave the visitors a 3-0 advantage at half-time.

Despite making inroads with a Robert Guest goal, Brayton could not withstand the relentless Station pressure.

Brigham and Whitlam both doubled their tallies in the second period and Brenton Leister, Liam Brown and Tom O’Neill also notched to take Station’s haul to eight.

Station will now face the winners of the game between Marcia Grey and Britannia Tadcaster, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.

York Nomads will host Wigginton Grasshoppers in the other semi-final, with both ties pencilled in for Sunday, April 12.

In the only game of the day in division two, Marcia Grey romped to a 10-1 victory over NUR.

Alex Day scored four with Nick McBride and Leigh Dutton picking up braces. Tommy Medd and Darren Smith completed the rout.

Nathan Cooper replied for NUR.

Marcia Bishopthorpe held division three leaders Cliffe to a 1-1 draw. Nigel Horner found the net for Cliffe.

Second-placed Thorpe United gained ground on their rivals, defeating Haxby United 4-0.

Stand-in keeper Tom Kilvington did well to save a Kyle Hesling shot early in the game, but the rebound fell to Darren Pool, who made no mistake in slotting home.

In the second period, Thorpe’s James Newnham missed from the penalty spot.

John Shearsmith struck a shot from the edge of the box to double Thorpe’s lead before Jamie Brace fired two identical one-on-one strikes to kill the game.

Greg Lowther and Sam Lee were on target for York Wanderers as they lost 3-2 at home to York Medics.
