DUNNINGTON beat York RI 5-2 to close the gap on Dringhouses and Wigginton at the top of York Minster Engineering Football League reserve ‘A’.

Paul Crangle, Andy Rose, Danny Aston, John Heads and Tom Matthews hit the target for the Common Road side, while Danny Cates and Judah Cocker replied for RI.

Haxby United’s Tom Kilvington scored the only goal of the game as they defeated Tadcaster Magnets and lifted themselves off the bottom of the table.

Haxby’s win was not good news for relegation rivals Easingwold Town, who gained a point following a 2-2 draw at home to Copmanthorpe.

Jordan Blackstock gave Cop the lead early in the first half but Scott Dixon levelled just before the interval.

Blackstock then got his second of the game to give the visitors the advantage again, but a stunning volley from David Waite meant the points were shared.

Church Fenton White Horse continued their unbeaten run at the top of reserve ‘B’ with a 2-1 triumph over Harrison Signs.

Chris Thompson bagged both of the White Horse goals.

Thorpe United gained a 4-0 victory to consolidate second place and stay within a point of the leaders.

Adam Gray scored for Brooklyn as they drew 1-1 with Bishopthorpe United.

Tockwith made the most of their chance to close the gap on reserve ‘C’ leaders Hamilton Panthers, with a hard-fought 4-3 win against Selby Olympia.

Harry Stobert and John Richardson both bagged braces for Tockwith, the latter’s goals coming from the penalty spot.

Wilberfoss gained a 4-0 victory over Rufforth courtesy of strikes from Dan Jacques (2), Carl Womersley and Matthew Holme.

Strensall gained their first points of the season in terrific style with a 7-0 battering of Bishop Wilton.

Liam Wingfield (3), Jack Bell, Ricki Mizzi, Ben Clark and Luke Quantock were on target.

Riccall United beat Gilberdyke Phoenix 1-0 in the East Riding Senior Country Cup, while Tadcaster Magnets gained a 3-1 success over St Nicholas in the West Riding Challenge Trophy.

In the East Riding Qualifying Cup, Selby Olympia Reserves were 10-2 winners over Forrester Athletic reserves, while the second string from Pocklington Town, Hemingbrough and Heslington also progressed.

In the North Riding Challenge Cup, Sporting Knavesmire, Ouseburn United and Brooklyn all crashed out.
