WITH county cups on the agenda, Wigginton Grasshoppers made the most of their opportunity to close the gap on the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division top three.

The hosts saw off Terrington Glory 4-1, taking the lead early on when Harry McMillan’s through ball was cleared only as far as Jamie Willstrop, who slotted home from 20 yards.

Josh Luckhurst twice blazed wide and Luke Hall fired over but the next goal was to be Terrington’s.

Alex Yates smashed an unstoppable shot past goalkeeper Michael Clancy.

With Glory in the ascendancy, they went close twice in quick succession, Jamie Green’s goal line clearance preventing the Mill Lane side from falling behind.

But in the 67th minute, Jordan Holt headed home a Wilstrop cross and two minutes later Luckhurst raced clear to make it 3-1. Luckhurst added his second two minutes from time.

Copmanthorpe collared basement side Easingwold Town 3-0 with Daniel Pedras, Daniel Snaith and Mark Featherstone hitting the mark.

Church Fenton pounded hosts Poppleton United 6-1.

Lenny Mason and John Marshall put the Church clan 2-0 ahead at the interval, before Poppleton responded shortly after the break.

With Poppleton pushing for an equaliser, Church Fenton broke after 65 minutes when Mason struck.

From then, White Horse cut loose with both Mason and Marshall completing hat-tricks.

Dringhouses drew level on points with Huntington following a 3-2 victory over their rivals.

Nathan Kamara sent Dringhouses into the lead after ten minutes, and by half-time, the game looked dead and buried with Cameron Mul - hearn and Wilson Briggs increas - ing the lead.

Rovers weren’t done though, and the introduction of substitute Chris Dyson at half-time turned the game around.

James Edmond headed home and Kieran Flanagan made it 3-2 but Dringhouses held out for triumph.

Leigh Dutton put York RI into an early lead against Osbaldwick but Tom Wheatland levelled matters ten minutes before the break.

Adam Thornton found the net to give Osso the advantage with 15 minutes to go, but Dutton completed a brace four minutes from time to ensure a 2-2 draw.

Division one table-toppers F1 Racing sped into a 4-0 lead at Tockwith after just 15 minutes before establishing a 7-0 half-time advantage.

The second period was a much more even affair with just one further goal for the home side.

On target for F1 were Adam Tiffany (3), Chris Dempsey (2), Danny Penrose (2) and Jason McCloud.

BOTH division two tussles ended in 2-1 victories for the travelling sides.

Tom Knowles and Carl Massingham struck to give Bishop Wilton a shock win over Bishopthorpe, while a Karl Laverick brace saw Barmby Moor triumphant over Fulford. Shane Smith replied for the home side.

Kirkbymoorside asserted their commanding position at the top of division three with an 11-0 success over Jorvik Blades. They remain a point clear with four games in hand on the chasing sides.

South Milford sit in second place after a 6-0 triumph over visitors Moor Lane.

Huby United consolidated fifth spot with a 5-0 victory over Crayke.

Dave Adams fired a hat-trick with Greg Wilsdon and Joe Broughton also on the score-sheet.

Rufforth United hit Selby RSSC for six thanks to goals from Lee Bartlett (2), Daniel Witcombe (2), Tom Norton and Nat Klatkroenkroek. RSSC managed one goal in consolation.

DIVISION four leaders Wetherby Athletic endured a scare at Huntington but eventually eked out a 3-2 success to establish a five-point cushion.

Huntington WMC defeated Settrington 3-1 to go second after two goals from Shane Bogg and a Jermaine Rudd effort.

Cawood gained a worthy 9-1 win over Wheldrake against whom Thomas Wright (3), James Darlison (2), Billy Atton (2), Daniel Smith and Matthew Ward found the net.

Gary Hardcastle and Sam Hill (2) hit the target for bottom club LNER Builders in a much-needed victory at home to Melbourne.
