TADCASTER is a town - and school - gripped by football cup fever.
As Northern Counties East League premier division table-toppers home in on a national FA Vase quarter-final, all things knockout are occupying students at Tadcaster Grammar School.
The school's Year 8 boys are celebrating reaching the semi-final of the County Cup, where they will meet Scalby School from Scarborough on March 5.
The Tadcaster route to the county last four opened with a 6-0 defeat of York's Manor School, followed by a 2-0 second conquest of another York school, All Saints'.
The quarter-final was closer, certainly in scoreline, with the Tadcaster titans edging past Harrogate opposition posed by St John Fisher School 3-2.
Both PE teacher and team manager Craig Whish and assistant coach Danny Bass are delighted at the advance to the county semi-finals.
Said Bass: “Our success has been down to a well organised squad who work hard for each other and show outstanding team spirit on and off the pitch."
