DUNNINGTON closed the gap on York Minster Engineering Football League reserve ‘A’ leaders Dringhouses with a 10-3 victory over Easingwold Town.

With Dringhouses not in action, Dunnington, champions for the last two years, made the most of their opportunity but had to come back from 3-2 down at half-time.

The class of the champions shone through in the second half as they notched eight goals without reply.

Kieron O’Brien and Danny Aston both scored twice, with the rest of the haul coming from Rob Hart, Joshua Martin, Jacob Hall, John Heads, Paul Crangle and an own goal.

Dunnington are now nine points behind Dringhouses with three games in hand.

Second-placed Wigginton Grasshoppers exacted their revenge on third-placed Huntington Rovers with a 3-2 victory.

Rovers, who had beaten Wigginton earlier in the season, found themselves 3-1 behind to goals from Rob Orr, Dave Hartas and Jack Thompson, before a late rally saw them come close to equalising.

Ashley Hill and Tom Flint were on target for the home side. Copmanthorpe moved up to sixth with a 3-1 victory over York RI.

Jordan Blackstock collected a hat-trick of goals for Cop, while Danny Cates managed RI’s consolation.

Tom Kilvington’s goal for Haxby was not enough as they were overpowered 3-1 by Old Malton St Mary’s.

White Horse Church Fenton made it 11 games unbeaten in reserve ‘B’ after they defeated Fulford 2-1.

The home side took an early lead before James Mason raced on to a Ben Jones flick to slot home for Church Fenton.

The match was won when substitute Adam Beavers crafted a solo goal to ensure White Horse remain top of the table.

Harrison Signs gained a hard fought 3-2 success at Malton & Norton.

Cameron Sanderson bagged a match-winning hat-trick for the visitors, while Thomas Garbutt hit the home side’s replies.
