SCARBOROUGH Athletic stepped up their Evo-Stik League division one north promotion challenge with a 3-2 win at Burscough.

The fourth-placed Seadogs forged ahead through Tom Corner on ten minutes and Matty Plummer added a second on the half hour.

Paul Williams pulled a goal back for the hosts, but James Ghaichem got Athletic's third on 37 minutes.

Nicholas Ryan pulled Burscough back to within one goal on 61 minutes, but Scarborough held on for the win despite Ghaichem's late dismissal.

Fifth-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic were denied by the weather, with a waterlogged pitch at Station View putting paid to their game against Prescot Cables.

Knaresborough Town were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Yorkshire Amateur in Northern Counties East League division one.

Selby Town's game at Rossington Main was postponed.

Only one game went ahead in the premier division, with the postponed fixtures including Pickering Town's home game against Nostell Miners Welfare and leaders Tadcaster Albion's clash with Thackley at Ings Lane.

Harrogate Town's trip to Gainsborough Trinity in Conference North was also postponed.
