THE summit meeting clash in the York Sunday Morning Football League top tier proved one-side as Wigginton Grasshoppers downed hosts Dunnington 7-0.

With the game just eight minutes old, Grasshoppers were ahead when Jamie Green got in behind the Dunnington back four to square a pass to Matthew Tiplady to score.

A one-two with Jamie Wilstrop ended with Tiplady adding his second and, shortly before half-time, Wilstrop struck with a shot that flew in off an upright.

The second period saw much of the same and a stunning 18-yard dipping volley gave Wilstrop his second before Tiplady tapped in to put Wigginton five clear and complete his hat-trick. Tom Coates was on target before Jordan Holt's volley completed the rout.

Division two leaders York Nomads also struck seven, dumping Drax 7-1, for nine consecutive wins.

Goals by James Fedyszyn and Sam Fox were mere consolation for Bishopthorpe at second-placed Marcia Grey, who registered a rampant 11-2 victory. Alex Day and Tommy Medd hit four goals apiece, with Paul Harris, Joe Mason and Steve Abbott also on target.

Luke Durham excelled in Cliffe's 4-2 win at York Wanderers in the division three top of the table duel. He picked up a hat-trick and the man of the match accolade with Tom Hogg bagging the visitors’ other goal.

York Phoenix piled the pressure on Marcia Bishopthorpe with a convincing 4-0 triumph.

The away side took the lead with a well-struck volley from Danny Phillips, before Steve Lorains lobbed the keeper and Jason Blackburn headed in before half-time. While the second half was more even, Ben Low struck to round off the win.

Thorpe United took the lead at Wentworth thanks goals from Philip Newstead and James Newnham, the latter from a penalty.

Newnham then turned villain, conceding a penalty which Dom Green converted on the stroke of half-time. A second strike from Green secured a worthy point for Wentworth.

Andrew Porter and Matthew Howden scored two goals each as Selby Olympia gained a 4-0 derby success over Selby RSSC.

Britannia Tadcaster beat NUR 4-1 to move through and join Marcia Grey in the last four of the Senior Challenge Trophy quarter-final. Aiden Ward scored for NUR.

In the second round, Snaith's Brad Hall scored a last-minute winner from the penalty spot to defeat division one Station 3-2. Matthew Whittaker bagged the first two goals for the victors, who will head to Dunnington in the third quarter-final on Sunday.

The final tie pits Hounds at home to Wigginton Grasshoppers at the Regen Centre.
