PAUL MARSHALL has admitted he dreams of leading his Tadcaster Albion side out at Wembley Stadium.

The Brewers have reached the last 32 of the FA Vase and will play Midland Football League premier division strugglers Brocton in front of a huge Ings Lane crowd - expected to top 600 - tomorrow (3pm).

Marshall, while knowing the importance of taking one game at a time in non-League football’s prestigious cup competition, can’t stop himself from looking ahead to a possible visit to the Arch later in the year.

“I have believed right from the word go that this is our year,” he said. “We have got the strongest squad ever to have a go at the Vase.

“We have had a couple of easy fixtures and now we are drawn at home. Everything is going to what I want and we will be going all the way to Wembley.

“I have got it in my mind that we are going and the players are believing it. You have got to have a dream. My dream is to lead this team out at Wembley.

“My brother played there and scored the winning goal (Sean Marshall in the FA Trophy for Scarborough in 1977) and I want to lead a team there.

“We are still four games away but we have won nine games in a row this season. There is no reason why we can’t win four in a row.”

Brocton should give Albion ample opportunity to test their goalkeeper, having conceded 53 goals in 22 league games this season.

Marshall’s men bounced back from a narrow loss at Shaw Lane with a 2-0 victory over Parkgate at home on Tuesday night - Josh Greening and Carl Stewart getting the goals.

While the former has an ankle complaint and could face a late test for Saturday, both Nick Thompson and Josh Barratt should be in the line-up and Taddy have also swooped to sign midfielder Danny Patterson from Ossett Town.

Marshall added: “Danny is a big lad and a strong acquisition. Nick Thompson has been carrying a couple of injuries and Tom Claisse is banned after getting sent off against Shaw Lane so we have just strengthened.

“We have got a lot of games coming up and we need to have a ready squad and we needed another midfielder.”

Marshall also hailed the huge support that has been turning up to Tadcaster home games this season - saying the club was now pulling in bigger crowds than Conference North side Harrogate Town.

“It was freezing on Tuesday night but the crowd were really good. We got 527 at the last home game,” he said.

“We are outdoing Evo-Stik sides and we are outdoing Harrogate Town.

“It is amazing that we are getting bigger crowds than them, and it’s a really good family atmosphere here.”
