WITH York Minster Engineering Football League top-flight leaders and defending champions Old Malton St Mary’s on county cup duty, all eyes fell on the second versus third place contest between Dunnington and Riccall United.

In a game hit by turbulent weather conditions, chances were few and far between.

Eventually, the dogged duel was settled by a strike from United’s Ian Beckram - the only goal of the game.

That enabled Riccall to leapfrog their rivals and occupy second position, six points behind Old Malton St Mary’s.

Wigginton Grasshoppers squared up to Church Fenton for the second time this season and once again took the three points from their rivals.

Eddy Clapham nodded the visitors in front after 15 minutes and hit a 20-yard strike to double the advantage ten minutes later.

After the break, Church Fenton responded, and Jon Marshall brought them back into the game after 62 minutes.

However, less than a minute later, Wigginton were back two goals clear as Jamie Willstrop lashed home their third.

Clapham completed his perfect hat-trick two minutes from time, rounding off a 4-1 victory.

A goal from club stalwart Terry Hibbert was enough to give Copmanthorpe victory at Terrington as the away side gained a 1-0 triumph.

Liam Keenaghan (2) and Mark Woodward hit the target for York RI as they dispatched Harrison Signs 3-0.

Poppleton defeated basement club Eaaingwold for the second time this season, though both clubs remain a long way adrift of safety.

Two goals from Joe Dale, plus a Jon Beech effort and an own goal, set Poppleton up for an easy win as they led 4-0 at the break.

Town rallied in the second period though, and Richard Brian and Jordan Green managed to reduce the deficit, though Easingwold could make no further inroads.
