FREE-SCORING Tadcaster Albion have boosted their firepower further with a return of a former favourite.

Striker Danny Gray has been lured from Northern Counties East League division one outfit Selby Town back to the Brewers, whose manager Paul Marshall put in seven days' notice for the player.

Marshall, whose side are bidding to reinforce their hold on the leadership of the NCEL premier division, was delighted by the capture of a man who has had several previous stints at Tadcaster.

Said the Albion boss: "We have a few suspensions in our attack and Carl Stewart still nursing a knee injury, so it's a big boost to have Danny back to boost our firepower."

Marshall recalled how just a couple of weeks ago Gray scored to cap an impressive performance for Selby against Albion in a west Riding County Cup clash.

"He gave our lads a testing time, which I knew he would," added Marshall.

"He's been here before and loves it at Tad and when I spoke to him he was up for fighting for his place and helping us, hopefully, to win the title.

"Danny certainly knows where the net is and with him not playing Sunday league football any more, he is going to be a great asset for us, especially over the next few weeks."

His former club meanwhile wished him all the best, recalling how Gray's arrival part way through the 2012/13 season and his subsequent tally of 15 goals enabled Selby to pull clear of the relegation zone.

Gray weighed in with 19 goals last season and while he has not featured as regularly in the Robins' front-line under new boss Dave Ricardo this term, the much-travelled marksman has still struck the net nine times.

In all, his 43 goals for Selby have included three hat-tricks and a brace of goals no fewer than ten times.
