WIGGINTON Grasshoppers remain four points clear at the top of the York Sunday Morning Football League after a 4-1 victory over Hounds.

Matt Tiplady opened the scoring from close range after 20 minutes and Terry Taylor added a second a quarter of an hour later.

After the break, Louis Blackwell got Hounds back into the game before Tiplady and Taylor struck again, the latter’s 18-yard curling strike being the goal of the game.

Dunnington took an early lead against King William, but the champions levelled the scores just before half-time.

The away side then edged back in front before King William missed a golden opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot.

From that moment onwards, Dunnington asserted and scored a further four goals to emerge as 6-1 winners.

Jonny Andrews led the way in the goalscoring with a hat-trick, with Robert Chipps, Harry Lynn and Theo Ainsley also obliging.

Luke Zacharenko was in an unfortunate position as he bagged a hat-trick for the losing side as Hemingbrough went down 7-4 at home to Bubwith White Swan.

Tom Collins found the net for Hemingbrough’s fourth.

York Nomads joined Marcia Grey on maximum points at the top of division two following a 3-0 win over Hambleton.

Aaron Kirby, Chris Bilton and Dan Andrew were on target in the win.

Snaith triumphed 5-1 at Bishopthorpe in a game of two halves.

As has happened several times this season, Bish led at the break, this time through a Matthew Howden goal.

However, Snaith turned the game on its head in the second period with goals from Matthew Whittaker (3), Brad Hall and Joe Lock.

In the only game of the day in division two, Haxby United and Wentworth took a point a piece following a 2-2 draw.

Tom Kilvington collected a brace for Haxby, with Joe Brennan and Dom Green finding the target for the hosts.

In the League Cup, Cliffe raced into a 2-0 lead at home to Marcia Grey thanks to a brace from Tom Hogg.

However, the wheels then fell off for Cliffe, and Alex Day came off Marcia’s bench to produce a man of the match performance which inspired them to a 6-2 victory.

Day provided a cross in the first minute of the second period that allowed Paul Harris to slot home.

The scores were then levelled when Carl Massingham fired a 30-yard bullet into the top of Cliffe’s net. Lee Dutton then put Marcia into the lead from the penalty spot before Day went on to orchestrate further goals for Steve Abbott, Ryan Day and Tommy Medd.

York Medics cruised to a 7-1 win at Marcia Bishopthorpe.
