THE York Minster Engineering League banner flew proudly amid the bulk of North Riding County Cup ties against Teesside League rivals, writes Graham Ireton.

Whinney Banks, last year’s County Cup runners-up, again found York sides too hot to handle, following their 4-0 loss to Old Malton in the final earlier this year.

This time around it was Wigginton Grasshoppers who dispatched the Teesside League leaders 4-1 with goals divided between Dale Holding, Matt Tiplady, Jamie Willstrop and Tom Derbyshire.

Dringhouses will also be in the draw for the next round after an own goal, plus strikes from James Robinson and Dave Watson, earned them a 3-2 success over Fishburn Park.

Terrington Glory scored a hard-fought 1-0 win at Richmond Mavericks.

Huntington just failed to complete a York full house.

A Gary Newton penalty and a John James strike were not enough to beat visitors Nunthorpe Athletic, who edged a 3-2 victory.
