REIGNING champions King William opened their title defence with a 6-3 defeat by early pacesetters Station in York Sunday Morning Football League division one.

Wayne Brook put the visitors ahead early on before Danny Snaith levelled from the penalty spot for last year’s quadruple winners.

Callum Roe-Dixon then scored with a long range effort directly from the kick-off to restore Station’s lead, only for King William to equalise once again.

Roe-Dixon put Station back in front before the break, and extended the lead further after half-time, completing his hat-trick.

Station added two more goals from Chris Coxon and Will Ramsay, which were separated by a third from the home side.

Neale Holmes fired Wigginton ahead from 25 yards at Hemingbrough after just three minutes.

However, Adrian Wood and Luke Zacharenko notched to allow the home side to go in 2-1 ahead at half-time.

Guy May then increased Brough’s lead after the interval only to see the ex-Skelton duo of Jamie Green and Holmes level up the scores.

Jamie Willstrop then gave Hoppers a 4-3 lead before Wood waltzed through a statuesque Wiggy defence to equalise for Hemingrough once again.

With a stalemate looking likely, up stepped Tom Coates to hit a 20-yard strike in the 90th minute.

Tom Metcalfe then passed into the corner of the Hemingbrough goal in injury time to give Wigginton a 6-4 victory.

Sam Wildwood, Johnny Andrew and Robert Chipps gave Dunnington a 3-1 half-time lead at Hounds.

However, even a fourth goal for the visitors from Wildwood in the second half was not enough to garner any points.

An own goal, along with a brace apiece from Louis Blackwell and Gary Chapman, proved enough to see Hounds emerge from the game as 5-4 winners.

In division two, Marcia Grey kept up their 100 per cent start with an 11-2 demolition of Bishopthorpe United.

Leading scorer was Alex Day with four goals, two of which were impressive solo runs.

Steve Abbott also bagged a hat-trick, including a 60-yarder off a knee, returning the Bishopthorpe goalkeeper’s clearance into the net. Tommy Medd (2), Jamie Edgerton and 16-year-old debutant Ryan Day completed the haul for Marcia.

Matthew Howden and Joe Barritt were on target for Bish.

Chris Bilton bagged four goals for York Nomads as they scored a 6-2 win at Snaith.

Aaron Kirby and Tom Young also hit the target for the triumphant side.
