NEW manager Dave Ricardo got off to a winning start as Selby Town beat AFC Mansfield 1-0 in Northern Counties East League division one.
Ricardo's men snatched the three points against the league newcomers thanks Asa Paradoe's 87th minute strike.
Knaresborough Town also bagged an opening day victory, beating visitors Hallam 2-1 in the same division.
Graham Whitehead gave Town a 16th-minute lead, but Hallam levelled through Grant Allott four minutes before the interval.
Former Leeds United striker Seb Carole got the winner on 67 minutes.
There was disappointment for ambitious Tadcaster Albion as they crashed 2-1 at home to promoted Shaw Lane Aquaforce in the premier division.
The Ings Lane visitors led 1-0 at the break thanks to George Conway's sixth minute goal.
Prolific striker Carl Stewart netted on 50 minutes, but Daniel Patterson's 70th minute goal proved decisive and the Brewers had Denny Ingram sent off late on.
Harrogate Town were held to a goalless draw by Wetherby Road visitors Tamworth.
