BURN turned up the heat to re-write the HPH York Vale Cricket League record books.

Their 272-2 against York in division one included centuries for skipper Robert Webster (119no) and Ray Adamson (117no) which is believed to be the first time two tons have been scored in a team's innings.

The dynamic duo amassed an unbroken 242 partnership on a glorious Clifton Park batting track.

Despite being 16-3, York kept fighting with 13-year-old Andrew Simpson (72no) and Tom Copeland (82no) putting on 158 as the home side closed 58 runs short.

That run-fest was in stark contrast to Barmby Moor's seven-wicket win at Askham Bryan where the home side were shot out for 74, Charlie Cameron's 3-14 being the best return.

Arron Reid destroyed Bishopthorpe with 7-27 as British Sugar crushed the Bishops by ten wickets.

A superb 86 from Kevin Thomas, which included 11 boundaries and two huge sixes, earned leaders Drax a four-wicket win against North Duffield. A partnership of 141 by Trevor Britain (69) and David Bielby (63) saw Duffield recover from 1-3 to post 167-7.

Champions Hemingbrough are still seeking their first win after losing to Wheldrake by six wickets. Anthony Carter starred with 50 for Wheldrake.

Adam Moseley clinched Copmanthorpe a last-ball one-wicket win over Clifton Alliance in division two. Alliance were rolled over for 99 with Dave Heartshorne and Dave Friend taking three wickets each.

University of York Staff continued their fine start by beating Ben Johnson by 48 runs, Abhijeet Pol shining with 5-16.

Westow's Dave Coverdale hit 52 and took 3-44 but could not prevent Ovington from nicking a one-wicket win with three balls to spare thanks to David Cole's 42no.

In division three, half-centuries by Paul Hughes (61), Richard Crabtree (52) and John Littlewood (52no) earned Acomb an easy victory over Melbourne.

Julian Green's 5-22 in Drax II's win against Stillingfleet included three victims in one over.

Lewis Graham scored 88 on his debut for Bishopthorpe II in division four against Woodhouse Grange who made a calamitous start at 14-4 against opening bowler Guy Mowbray, whose career-best 5-17 off 14 overs, ensured Bishops' victory.

Hemingbrough's second team made it three wins out of three by crushing Ovington II by 105 runs. Captain John Waterhouse (67) helped 'Brough to 155-6 before his young swing bowlers routed Ovington for 50.

Wheldrake II's Kevin Dent produced an amazing performance in the ten-wicket win over Askham Bryan II, taking four wickets without a single run being scored off his 34 deliveries. Father-and-son openers Simon (28no) and James Rouse (43no) knocked off the runs.

Nick Kline scored 109 for Carlton Towers in their 21-run win over Thorpe Willoughby II in division five.

Mick Bell's 6-26 was decisive as Selby II thrashed Huntington but those figures were bettered by Stockton & Hopgrove's Nigel Collinson, who took 6-14 in 13 overs as his side eased past Hirst Courtney II by eight wickets.
