KELFIELD won the HPH Cup after a close contest with Westow at Selby’s Sandhill Lane ground.

The key man was Kelfield opener Craig Lawson. who continued his great form in the competition by scoring 74 in his side’s successful run chase.

Westow were put in and lost wickets at regular intervals, with the main contributors being Andrew Phillips (45), Matt Shipley (37), Chris Inman (18) and Mark Earle (17) in a total of 176-9. The wickets were shared between Matt Walker (3-36), Sam Dunn (3-38) and Ben Atkinson (3-51).

Lawson and fellow opening batsman Andy Charlton (33) gave Kelfield a great start with a stand of 102. Lawson took Kelfield to within 10 runs of victory before being dismissed for the first time in this year’s competition, having scored 89 and 90 in his previous two cup innings.

Westow tried hard but struggled to get on top, with the other main Kelfield scorers being Walker (24), Dunn (18) and Martyn Rhodes (16no). Westow’s most successful bowler was Jake Stephenson with 3-41.

The trophy was presented by Charles Walker, a partner in HPH chartered accountants.
