ALL games in the HPH York Vale Cricket League were washed out by rain on Saturday.
Each club received ten points from the abandoned matches which means the only outstanding title issue was decided - Askham Bryan being confirmed as division two champions and going back to the top flight after a three-year absence.
There is just one outstanding game to be played – the Acomb v Hemingbrough match in division two. It had to be rearranged because of Acomb’s involvement in the Scothern Construction Cup final. The fixture will be played on Saturday.
Attention now turns to the league’s awards night which will be held, for the first time, at the Regen Centre, Riccall, on Saturday, October 8. It will be hosted by cricket coach and umpire Graham Orange, the former public relations officer for Go racing Yorkshire.
