WESTOW'S slim HPH York Vale Cricket League title chances all but evaporated as they were well beaten by third-placed Ovington.

The York side's openers Tom Cookson (30) and Pete Kelly (39) had 65 on board after 10 overs before a partnership between Craig Nicholl (66) and Joe Whale (45) saw the defending champions total 228-7.

Westow were then cleaned up for just 103 as Neil Metcalfe returned figures of 5-3-4-4.

Burn chased down Wheldrake's 194-5, which featured an unbeaten 89 for Anthony Carter.

Despite losing wickets at key times, all Burn's batsmen – led by Norman Elliott (49) and Leigh Adamson (37) – contributed enough to see them home by four wickets.

Melbourne dominated against Kelfield, with a stand of 124 between Matt Beevers (109no) and Ollie Steels (39) helping produce a total of 248-3.

Neil Atkinson (45) and Craig Lawson (63) started well for Kelfield but they collapsed to 162 all out against spinners Robin Miller (5-35) and Malcolm Harrison (4-38).

The top versus bottom clash went to form as Bishopthorpe swept aside Stockton & Hopgrove, who were reduced to 23-5 before being bowled out for 61 inside 23 overs.

Askham Bryan batsman Parag Mohite played a tornado of an innings to sweep away Ovington II in division two.

After his amazing nine-ball half-century in the recent clash between the sides, Mohite this time scored a brilliant hundred off just 21 deliveries.

It took a great catch from Roger Sinclair to dismiss him for 144 off the bowling of Ben Busby (3-44) but Askham's mammoth 296-5 was never threatened by Ovington, with star man Mohite taking 4-44.

Acomb returned to form, posting a decisive 212 against Malton & Old Malton. Jack Woodworth led the way with 52 and skipper Steve Lennox contributed 47, opposite number Ollie Varey taking 5-65.

Mark Taylor joined Saturday's hundred club with 108 not out for Clifton Alliance against Stillingfleet.

Coming in at 40-2, he shared a stand of 114 with Chris Elliott (73) to propel the total to 249-7. Lewis Clark then took 5-13 in only 21 balls as Stillingfleet crashed from 71-2 to 84 all out.

Thorp Arch & Boston Spa captain Matthew Bentley struck a superb 145 and still ended up on the losing side at Burn II in division three.

Home opener Diccon Edwards scored 104 in Burn's commanding 272-3. Then after the interval it was a one-man show as Bentley stroked the ball to all parts but could not prevent his side from missing out.

Yapham opener Mark Fairey (101no) also scored a ton for a beaten side in a thrilling 400-plus run battle which saw Thorpe Willoughby extended their leadership by seeing off second-placed Yapham. David Squires struck 96 not out for Thorpe.

Thixendale skipper Simon Walgate notched an unbeaten 100 against Selby – one of the day's eight centuries – cracking on from a good platform laid by Will Megginson (53).

Stamford Bridge bowler Martin Veysey continued his outstanding season for the division four leaders by blowing away Ovington III with standout figures of 11-2-19-5.

Steve Wilson (54no) played a lone hand as Dunnington were dismissed for 83 by Pocklington after being 9-6 as Pete Eastwood took 5-33 for the victorious Burnby Lane side.
