FULFORDGATE clinched their second win of the HPH York Vale Cricket League division one season thanks to a superb all-round performance from Alan Baldock.

He held his side’s innings together with 87 against Stockton & Hopgrove as no other batsman made double figures, finally falling in the 38th over.

Stockton needed 145 against the league's bottom club, but Baldock broke the back of the Stockton innings with 5-44 and also took two catches as they slumped to 89-7, eventually losing by 12 runs.

North Cave defeated Kelfield who could not capitalise on a 108 first-wicket partnership between Andy Charlton (62) and Craig Lawson (62) and were kept to 169-8. Damian Sharp (81), who survived being bowled by a no-ball, hit four sixes and 11 fours as Cave won by six wickets.

Bishopthorpe bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a 164-run win over North Duffield. Mike Dale (62) and 56 from 52 balls by Ian Holmes built a challenging total of 237-7. North Duffield started badly as Matthew Riley (5-13) picked up the first five wickets and they were eventually all out for 73.

Joe Whale (55) and Pete Kelly (84 from 61 balls) added 133 in 18 overs before Neil Metcalfe smashed 94 not out as Ovington amassed 311-6 against Melbourne. In reply, Olly Steels (100no) reached his century with three balls of the innings left as they closed on 191-7.

Runs were hard to come by for Burn and Ben Johnson on a tricky pitch at Escrick, Graham Robson taking 5-23 for victorious Burn.

For the second week running, 14-year-old Ralph Sinclair led Ovington II to victory in division two. After his 91 against Hemingbrough the previous Saturday, Sinclair took 5-18 – including an all bowled triple wicket maiden - and then hit 51 in the win against Stillingfleet.

Parag Mohite (137) scored his maiden century as Askham Bryan thumped South Cave who were skittled for 65. Pete Wood included a hat-trick in his 5-2-12-5.

In-form Westow leapfrogged opponents Clifton Alliance into third place with Andrew Welford (159no) and Mark Earle (101) enjoying an opening partnership of 189 in a massive 326-5 total.

Yapham blew away a ten-man Selby side in division three with Will Cardy taking three wickets for just one run from six overs, including five maidens. Dan Edwards took 4-15 as Selby were at one point 17-7 before being bowled out for just 42, Yapham winning in 5.3 overs.

George Baty (57) and Huw Jones (84no) shared what proved to be a winning partnership of 96 for Pocklington against struggling Thorpe Willoughby. Burn skipper Ray Adamson (121no) batted throughout his side's innings in the win against Burton Salmon.

Although Bishopthorpe II’s Jamie Blackburn hit his highest score - 96 from 85 balls – Acomb triumphed as wicketkeeper Andy Ingle, who also claimed four victims, made 62 and Mark Williamson 81.

Seventeen-year-old Matty Besford scored his second successive century as Ovington III outplayed Thorpe Willoughby II in division four. He followed his 116 with 4-10.
