STOCKTON & Hopgrove emerged from a traumatic week with their unbeaten HPH York Vale Cricket League division one record intact.

They faced a race against time to get their damaged wicket in order for their game against Hemingbrough after a midweek invasion by travellers.

All S&H’s batsmen made double figures with Matt Durkin (103) leading the way with his maiden century as the home side amassed 279-4 in a 114-run victory.

Ovington and champions North Cave are also yet to lose in the top flight. Knavesmire-based Ovington have lost every toss this season but it did not prevent them winning at Burn, who were restricted to 148-9 by Neil Metcalfe’s 4-37.

Swing bowler Matthew Smith (5-35) had Ovington in trouble at 66-6, but Craig Nicholl’s unbeaten 57 earned maximum points.

Rob Page struck 75 as Cave held off battling Bishopthorpe by 15 runs. Bish, needing 180 to win, got close with opener Ben Smith the last wicket to fall, run out for 86.

Fulfordgate’s Max Henderson continued his blistering form, following his seven-wicket haul last week, with 4-27 and an unbeaten 57 in an easy win against bottom club Askham Bryan.

Kelfield bounced back from 60-5 to make 226-9 against Hirst Courtney, Neil Atkinson hitting 62. Sam Dunn then followed his 47 with 5-66 as Hirst fell short by a dozen runs.

Division two leaders Clifton Alliance lost their unbeaten record when they went down by one wicket at Westow whose Matthew Shipley (104) struck his first-ever ton.

A stand of 97 in 20 overs by Paul Johnson (48) and Steve Miller (38) effectively sealed North Duffield’s seven-wicket win at York RI.

Sixteen-year-old Harry Moorcroft (54) scored his maiden half-century to ensure Heworth saw off Wheldrake, and Selby earned their first win of the summer by thrashing Ben Johnson, Jamie Middleton starring with great figures of 12-4-37-7.

Josh Berry, aged 13, hit a sparking 51 for Malton & Old Malton but could not prevent his side from losing at home to Melbourne, who took over the leadership of division three.

Previous leaders Copmanthorpe were without a game and that enabled in-form Goole Town to narrow the gap with victory at Ovington II, whose opener Ben Svenson was run out at the non-striker’s end from the first ball of the match. He later recovered to take four wickets but Goole took the spoils.

Jamie Mackie smashed 97 from 58 balls and new signing Johnny Trumble took 5-40 as Bishopthorpe II beat Burn II in division four.

Old hand Granville North returned 6-22 as Hemingbrough II defeated Dunnington, John Cockerill (62) and Leo Howard (56) having earlier defied a great effort by Dunnington’s Jay Snowden (6-39).

Jamie Harvey grabbed 5-43 for Stamford Bridge whose wicketkeeper Neil Porteus claimed five victims in the win against Burton Salmon.

Heworth II lost to Yapham, Richard Minion (64) helping the village side to a season’s best 205-7. Hirst Courtney II recovered from 87-7 to a match-winning 127-7 against Thorpe Willoughby II in division five thanks to Ben Copeland's unbeaten 53.
